Our Approach

Our comprehensive approach includes training, coaching, and the direct participation of our team to help solve the real problems your organization is presented with or to deliver the improvements in performance your organization demands.

Although our operational location is one of the most perfect tropical sailing locations in the world, we don't offer your employees a tropical vacation. What we deliver are structured sail training programs that transform individual employees from average performers to high-performance team players or inspirational leaders. In a competitive, challenging business environment we appreciate that your organization needs proven results in terms of improved communication skills, sales motivation, creating and/or maintaining effective and focused team cohesion, a uniform focus on business goals, effective strategies to harness organizational change for progress, and the generation of effective leadership strategies and skills with performance improvement indicators. Our task is to ensure your employees possess the knowledge and understanding to apply these new skills when they get back to their workplace and that you benefit from your investment in them.

How it Works

Very little can be achieved in sailing without working effectively as a team, communicating efficiently and allowing inspirational leadership to direct and focus your energy to the finish line. Everyone fulfills a role, everyone takes part and everyone shares in the rewards of successfully achieving your objectives.

When you arrive in Marsh Harbour you'll get settled into your accommodations and when you're ready you'll meet your Captains and our staff will provide you with a briefing covering the itinerary we have scheduled for your group.

The next day the sailing program begins, you'll depart for the Sea of Abaco where your introductory sail training will commence. The sailing will follow the planned schedule; however, it'll be flexible since the weather dictates all activities.

Each crewmember is instructed in his/her role and responsibilities onboard, they practice that function numerous times as the sailboat goes through a variety of maneuvers to insure the crew understand how all the roles work in unison to harness the wind and allow the sailboat to progress from point A to point B. As the training continues each crewmember will have to rotate through each separate function and in turn teach their replacement what they have learned. This demands effective communication and teamwork and is a tried and tested method of building team cohesion and a uniform focus.

In turn, it will become necessary for each crewmember to take responsibility for overseeing various roles, in the capacity of, initially First Mate, then as a stand-in Captain. This immersion in the responsibility of leadership in an unfamiliar environment compels the leader to use all resources available to lead effectively. In turn, this introduces the need to plan and prepare, to communicate the plan effectively to the crew, manage the performance of the crew and sailboat, then finally to review and analyze performance.

When this approach is repeated numerous times with each crewmember, not only does it accelerate team cohesion and a common focus on achieving goals, it produces highly motivated and competitive team players as well as effective leaders. This platform may be built upon to focus attention on any particular area of teambuilding or leadership, communications or goal setting, planning and preparation, motivation or embracing change.

Each evening at your accommodations, we'll put together an informal review of the day's activities to discuss what you've learned, what challenges you faced and what you accomplished, individually and as a group. We'll help you focus on the important aspects of the day's achievements to put them in the context of a business scenario that each individual and group can relate to and appreciate.
