Most Scout Troops travel in Class A uniform, however, some prefer to travel in Class B. It is in your own best interests to dress smartly when traveling!

Customs & Immigration

When your crew arrives at Marsh Harbour International airport you will clear Customs and Immigration. When you complete your Immigration form you should note that you are on a ‘Sailing Vacation’ and you should write ‘Conch Inn Marina’ in the box where it asks for ‘hotel name or intended address’.

Taxi

When you have collected your baggage, your group will then take a minivan taxi to the Curly Tails Restaurant car park (not the ‘Dive Abaco’ car park). Although we will be monitoring your flight arrival status, please be sure to ask your driver to call Sail School Bahamas on vhf Ch65 to confirm you are on your way to the marina.

Sail School Bahamas staff will meet you at the Curly Tails car park in front of the marina. An introductory briefing will take place shortly after you arrive, this will outline all rules and responsibilities for crewmembers.

Your Sailboat

Before you arrive we will allocate a suitable sailboat(s) to your crew and this will be confirmed by email along with your arrival instructions. It is important to note that space onboard is limited so pack sparingly and only bring ONE bag per person. Use soft luggage only - bags should be no longer than 28" - 30". DO NOT bring suitcases. (It is okay to bring your snorkeling gear in a separate bag.) Please see the Packing List section of our website to find out more.

Getting onboard

You will be able to board your sailboat after 10:00hrs on the day your trip begins. You will be expected to be off your sailboat by 10:00hrs on the day your trip ends in order to allow sufficient time for the Captains to reprovision and carry out maintenance.

Following the Sail School Bahamas introductory briefing, your Captain will take you to your assigned sailboat. Your Captain will provide a further safety orientation specific to your sailboat and explain other relevant rules.

After that, you will all get ready to set sail on the voyage of a lifetime!
